Hermosa, meaning gorgeous, is a higher degree of beauty than something you might describe as pretty.

The above scenes are from Hermosa or the surrounding area. While most of the area around Hermosa is fairly arid year round, there is a small stream "Battle Creek" which comes down the canyon and  through the community. Several of the pictures included above are taken along Battle Creek.

Hermosa is a town near the northern edge of Custer County, South Dakota, United States. 

It is roughly 16 miles south of Rapid City, SD on State Highway 79 and 39 miles north of Hot Springs, SD

and 18 miles East of Mt. Rushmore National Monument.
